‘Stop bullying’: Nonprofit creates billboard campaign throughout city

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – With the school year underway, some new billboards in Chicago display an important message for students and parents.

The four billboards read: “Stop Bullying” and “Demand accountability at Latin School of Chicago and at all Illinois Schools.”

The non-profit Buckets Over Bullying is behind the campaign. The organization was started in the fall of 2022 by the parents of 15-year-old Nate Bronstein who died by suicide in January of 2022 after his parents say he was cyberbullied by some of his basketball teammates and other classmates at Latin School of Chicago.

According to Buckets Over Bullying, 43 percent of Chicago youth have been cyberbullied.

The billboards are meant to encourage students and parents to take actions to make sure schools address bullying in all forms and protect students.
