Letter to Congress highlighting discriminatory practices within NAIS independent schools
Buckets Over Bullying, through the Bronstein Family Foundation, is committed to ensuring that all schools—particularly NAIS independent schools—prioritize the safety, well-being, and equal treatment of every student.
Growing concerns have emerged regarding discriminatory practices within the independent school sector, particularly among schools affiliated with the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). These concerns include allegations of conduct that conflict with the protections afforded under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act and have coincided with a rise in reported incidents of severe and pervasive antisemitism and discrimination in many independent schools.
In response, Michelle Parker, Jews In School and Rose Bronstein commissioned a white paper outlining these concerns and documenting their impact on students and families enrolled at NAIS independent schools.
In January 2026, the white paper was formally submitted to majority staff members serving on the House Committee on Education and the Workforce and the House Committee on Ways and Means, urging Congress to investigate these issues and ensure that schools receiving federal benefits comply with applicable civil rights protections.
