Nate Bronstein was a vibrant and passionate 15-year-old who was deeply loved by his family and friends. He was a cherished member of his family, which includes his loving parents, two sisters and a large extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins with whom he loved spending time. 

Nate was always full of energy and enthusiasm, particularly when it came to sports. He enjoyed playing baseball, hockey, touch football, soccer, and basketball, which was his favorite. He also loved watching sports, participating in sports trivia and competing in fantasy sports leagues. A fan of sports influencers like T Jass, Nate loved all things related to athletics.

Beyond his athletic interests, Nate was known for his intelligence and humor. He could always be counted on to lead the way in fun and adventurous activities with his friends.  

Nate’s bright future was cut short on January 13, 2022, when he died by suicide after facing severe cyberbullying by his peers. A group of classmates and basketball teammates at the Latin School of Chicago harassed and threatened Nate through a JV basketball group text and Snapchat, with one of the messages cruelly directing him to kill himself.

In the wake of this devastating loss, Buckets Over Bullying , a nonprofit organization, was launched in October 2022 during National Bullying Prevention Month. Buckets Over Bullying is a grassroots movement that seeks to honor Nate’s memory by raising awareness about the dangers of cyberbullying and social media harms. Buckets Over Bullying advocates for change to protect other young people from these harms. Nate’s legacy lives on through this important work.
